Slip and fall work accidents are commonly caused by wet floors or slippery surfaces, broken stairs, uneven areas of carpet, objects left on the ground and poor or broken lighting.
Victims of slip and fall work accidents suffer serious and sometimes life-threatening injuries.
After a slip or fall accident at work, you should make a note of the following:
1. Where you were coming from and where you were going to.
2. The time of day- the court may take into consideration the fact that a worker may be less alert towards the end of the shift.
2. The lighting conditions. Could poor or broken lighting might have contributed to the accident?
3. Describe the type of flooring, including the colour and composition.
4. Draw a sketch plan showing the distance you walked before the accident.
5. State whether you were carrying, pushing or pulling anything, especially if this would have made it difficult for you to see the danger ahead.
6. State whether anyone reduced your vision of the danger or the substance on the floor.
7. Describe the substance on the floor or danger that caused you to fall. If you can not take measurements, ask a colleague to do it for you.
The facts set out above are very important in proving that your employer failed to anticipate the accident and was therefore at fault.
If you have suffered injuries due to a slip and fall
work accident, you may be entitled to compensation. You should seek the advice of a specialist work accident solicitor.
