A little boy aged six was killed in a hit-and-run accident last Saturday as he crossed Fish pond Lane in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Police were called at about 12.20pm to the scene of the incident.
The impact of the accident lifted the child into the air and knocked his shoes off.
According to the Metro Newspaper, Owen Wightman’s father, Neil, 33, said:
“We can’t burry our son until this person comes forward. It could take up to four weeks because this person could say they want another post-mortem.”
Owen’s mother Joanne, 31, said:
“He had such a lovely smile, I will always remember him smiling. He would walk into a room and light it up.”
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Bottomley said: “
“At this stage we believe the driver is a young white male and the vehicle is likely to have front-end damage as a result of the collision.
“I would urge anyone with information to come forward and contact the police.”
