Seven Tips: What you should do after a burn injury at your place of work

Tuesday June 29, 2010 at 9:40pm

Do not be scared of making your burn injury claim. If you have been burnt at work due to your employer’s negligence, the health and safety laws are there to protect you. You have a right to claim burn injury compensation.

Most employers are aware of their responsibilities. All employers are required to have liability insurance to cover burn injuries at work.

Your burn injury solicitor will guide you through the process of winning your claim.

What you need to do after your burn injury at work

Here are the seven Tips
:

  1. Inform your employer immediately and complete the accident report. If you are still in shock or distressed, do not sign the accident report.
  2. Inform your health and Safety representative if there is one at your workplace.
  3. When you are able, write a statement. Make sure you sign and date it.
  4. Write down the names and telephone numbers or addresses of all the witnesses.
  5. As soon as possible take photographs of the scene of the accident or ask your Health and safety representative or colleague to take them.
  6. Attend hospital or your GP as soon as possible.
  7. If your burn injuries are serious, report the accident to the Health and Safety Executive as soon as possible.

Balinda & Co have many years experience and have helped a lot of people who have suffered burn injuries at work to get compensation.
